ASIA - The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) is celebrating its 10th year in operation following a milestone 2014 which saw the venue host 1,759 events, an 11 per cent increase on 2013.
The centre says its banqueting and functions and exhibitions segments all registered a nine per cent growth. Delegate numbers were also up to over 1.97m compared to 1.96m in 2013.
Since opening in June 2015, KLCC has welcomed in excess of 17.6m delegates and visitors from 9,969 events contributing RM5.5bn (US$1.5bn) in economic impact.
GM Alan Pryor attributes the centre’s success to date to a flexible and innovative outlook that supports the generation of value-add solutions to meet the different needs of a range oflocal and international clients.
Looking at the year ahead, Pryor says the centre will look to build on the momentum achieved in 2014 by “leveraging the knowledge and experience we have gained from a decade in the industry. This valuable know-how has moulded us into the savvy and resilient team of professionals we are today.”
