The free venue-finding service for Cambridge University and its colleges, as well as hotels and other unique properties in the city, reported 3,302 enquiries were taken, worth £25m, in 2014, compared to 2,744 in 2013. From last year’s enquiries, 1,040 bookings were confirmed, worth £4.8m, versus 931 bookings worth £4.4m in 2013.
The client sector breakdown of the enquiries for 2014 was: 62 per cent from academics and corporates, eight per cent from individuals, seven per cent from associations and three per cent from charities.
Managing director of Conference Cambridge, Kelly Vickers, said: “2014 was definitely our busiest year to date and we are delighted with these latest figures which break all records for us. This underlines Cambridge’s appeal as a location for events of all types, including larger scale gatherings which can benefit from using multiple venues.
With 50 venues in its portfolio, Conference Cambridge provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for organisers to enquire over availability for free.
