Clarion Energy rebrands Utility Week & POWERGEN to Enlit

Clarion has today unveiled Enlit, the new name for European Utility Week and POWERGEN Europe to leaders at their show in Paris.

The decision was taken because the lines between energy events and the journey from source to generation and grid to consumer are becoming ‘blurred’. Clarion enlisted the help of Larsen Energy Branding over the past six-months to create the world’s only inclusive guide to the energy transition.

Clarion Energy executive VP & global MD Duncan Reid told visitors at POWERGEN “Enlit is a fantastic new brand for what is the most important and comprehensive event portfolio for the global energy industry. Over the next 12 months, we will roll out Enlit across three continents to unify seven brands: Power & Utilities Australia, Australian Utility Week and POWERGEN Australia in Melbourne in August, Asian Utility Week and POWERGEN Asia in Jakarta in September and European Utility Week and POWERGEN Europe in Milan in October.”

The company explained that visitors to Enlit will be able to enjoy a new inspirational and immersive experience with content created and curated specifically for tomorrow’s new energy professionals; while Enlit exhibitors will have access to the people driving the future of the industry and the ability to reach a global audience under one brand.

European Utility Week & POWERGEN Europe director Paddy Young said: “The energy transition is defining the way we harness, trade, deploy and use energy, which is changing radically, rapidly and continuously.

“From source to generation, to grid to the consumer, the boundaries of the sector are blurring, and this evolution is being shaped by established players, external disruptors, innovative start-ups and the increasingly engaged end-user. Enlit will bring together all of these influencers to seize current opportunities, spotlight future ones, and inspire the next generation to join the journey.”

The news has been met by widespread industry support. Enel Foundation, the nonprofit research and education organisation created by the Enel Group, which joined forces with Clarion as exclusive Global Knowledge Partner of the Power and Energy event series, welcomed the change. Carlo Papa, director of Enel Foundation, said: “In this historical moment for our industry and our planet, getting stakeholders to unite behind accelerating the clean energy transition without leaving anyone behind is a global priority and Enlit perfectly represents this convergence space.”

What is Enlit?

Enlit is the new unifying brand for Clarion Energy’s worldwide series of Utility Week and POWERGEN events. It is the world’s only complete energy event, designed to bring clarity to the global energy transition and define the roles of all those involved in powering the next generation of the industry.

Why was this decision taken?

The energy transition is defining the way we harness, trade, deploy and use energy, which is changing radically, rapidly and continuously. From source to generation, to grid to the consumer, the boundaries of the sector are blurring, and this evolution is being shaped by established players, external disruptors, innovative start-ups and the increasingly engaged end-user.

Clarion Energy wanted to create a brand that will bring together all of these influencers to seize current opportunities, spotlight future ones, and inspire the next generation to join the journey.

How was the decision taken?

Clarion Energy worked in partnership with market-leading consultants Larsen Energy Branding. CEO Fridrik Larsen explained: “The complexities of merging the two brands resemble the challenges the energy space is facing with a disruption in technology and consumers’ attitudes. However, bringing the two events together made perfect sense and we are delighted to have worked together with Clarion Energy on this project.”

What will it offer to exhibitors?

Enlit exhibitors will have unprecedented access to the people driving the future of the industry and the ability to reach a global audience through one brand.

What will it offer to visitors?

Visitors to Enlit with enjoy a truly inspirational and immersive experience with content created and curated specifically for tomorrow’s new energy professionals

Which shows are rebranding to Enlit?

  • Power & Utilities Australia, Australian Utility Week and POWERGEN Australia in Melbourne in August 2020
  • Asian Utility Week and POWERGEN Asia in Jakarta in September 2020
  • European Utility Week and POWERGEN Europe in Milan in October 2020

What about the events in Africa & India?

Our POWERGEN and Utility Week events in Africa and India are currently mid-cycle. At Clarion, we generally don’t rebrand shows mid-cycle, so this is still very much at the review stage. However, it is likely that over the next 12 months these two shows will also be rebranded Enlit.

And America?

All of the events underneath the Enlit brand are end-to-end. Our power shows in the US – HYDROVISION International, DISTRIBUTECH International and POWERGEN International are not end-to-end events and we have no plans currently to rebrand them.
