(OSHKOSH, Wis.)—When candidates apply for a job, the vast majority (85%) of HR pros evaluate work experience during the interview process. While work experience is commonly evaluated, just 14% of HR pros surveyed rate it as the most important attribute they evaluate. In fact, they say cultural fit (34%) and qualifications (22%) are more important to evaluate to find the right candidate.
The research, presented in the newly released 2019 Recruiting Trends e-book from 4imprint, provides a snapshot of how HR pros recruit in 2019 and their views on what works and what doesn’t during the hiring process.
Among the other findings from the survey:
- Online job boards are both the most used recruiting technique (69%) and the most successful (29%).
- More than 1/3 (34%) rate cultural fit the most important candidate attribute.
- More than half of HR professionals use branded pens during the recruiting process.

Results found in this e-book are based on a survey of more than 300 human resources professionals collected January-March 2019.
